The EQ is very effective and in conjunction with excursion and the bright switches you can really change the feel and get a ton of good tones out of it. Put the excursion on loose, crank the mids and play with the bright switches and it gets bright and nasty in a Marshall-y way. It definitely can do that, but I was surprised by how versatile it is. This is my first Bogner and I've always heard that they were dark with a low-mid focus. I'm not a shredder by any means so take this with a grain of salt, but with excursion on tight and the drive channel bright switches on B1 or B2 it's very articulate with good note separation. I think the clarity under gain is very good, though the red channel may mush out if you really crank the gain. It has pretty much every rock or blues tone in that one channel that I'd need. It just sounds fantastic from light crunch up to more gain than I have a use for.

I know people love the red channel of the XTC, but the blue channel on the 3534 blows me away. I haven't played an SLO or either of the Mesas you're considering so I can't speak to how the 3534 would compare to those.ģ. The Bogner has more gain on tap and to me has a more modern voicing. Of the amps I've owned I guess something like the Friedman BE50 would be in the same feature and tone ballpark.

I don't gig, just playing for fun at home at fairly loud volume.Ģ. I bought it because I've always wanted to try a Bogner but didn't really want another full-size 50W or 100W head. I'm mostly playing 90's hard rock and grunge stuff on mine, but I could see it working for a lot of genres (other than country or jazz). There is probably only one local GC that could potentially get it in-store (only one that generally carries high end gear) otherwise I’d might need to drive a few hours to find a dealer. Tricky one as I doubt I can easily get some hands on time with it unless I’m prepared to wait some time. The Bogner seems intriguing, but don’t really have a frame of reference for their amps to know whether I should be waiting around to play it. (Thought the Triple Crown and MT15 excelled at clarity under high gain, but wasn’t really overly impressed by either base tone, TC more than the PT15 in that regard, though not enough to pull the trigger)Īs I stand I’m considering a Mesa Rectoverb 25 head or looking to get some hands on time with a Rockerverb 50w. I’m not a “metal” guy but I think feedback here has indicated the gain structure I’m looking for in terms of saturation while retaining clarity is more in line with a metal or heavier styled amp.

Ideally looking for an amp with a really good clean channel, and a gain channel that does well in terms of clarity/articulation under high gain. What would be considered its strong points? (Cleans, overdrive, high gain) What would be a comparable amp as a general frame of reference?ģ. What sort of players/genres is this amp aimed at?Ģ. I’ve watched a few demos of the amp but am curious for some feedback with those that actually have the amp.ġ. Was looking for some feedback given I’ve never played a Bogner before, much less this amp.

Looking at various amps and stumbled upon the 3534 on this forum from the SLO threads.
